The weather has been cooler and damper today, but that didn’t matter because it’s been a travelling and shopping day. We did intend to have a short walk, but the parking wasn’t suitable for Bertie, so we switched to plan B and went for a drive instead… a great big loop from Vence.

We had tried to go to the LeClerc supermarket in Vence but there was a height barrier so we carried on to the Gorges du Loup. It was a lovely drive between steep sided cliffs, through tunnels and beneath rocky overhangs… no photos though because of the lack of stopping places. We ended up at a village called Gréolières high in the in the Alpes-Maritimes. It was good to be back somewhere peaceful, with very few vehicles on the road, and the scenery was stunning, very green, with lots of trees, and low cloud hanging down the mountains.

We then turned back to Vence to try a Carrefour supermarket, which we thought would be easier to park at… another plan B. We had to get the shopping done today because supermarkets are few and far between in the Alpes. On the way back we climbed on winding roads to the Col de Vence before dropping back to the town. The coastal side of the col was much drier, rockier and scrubbier.

Having filled the fridge and wine drawer, we went back inland to Le Bar-sur-Loup where we’re staying for 2 nights. We had lunch and discussed going to visit the town but, just after we’d set up, the cloud came down and the heavens opened. Time for Plan B number 3! John had a swim in the pool despite the rain then watched rugby in the campsite’s TV room, and I started my jigsaw. It’s been a relaxing afternoon, and still warm, although I did put a long sleeve top on for the first time this month 🙂

Tomorrow we’re doing a long walk… The Chemin de Paradis. Hopefully the sun will come out again and it will be paradise.
Isn’t it wonderful having Plan B, C and D or basically just going with the flow! Glad you managed to restock your fridge and wine cellar. Enjoy the high walking and the peace away from the crowds xx

I’d rather things went as planned but also aware I need to be less of a control freak 🤣 x

But at least you had alternative plans. All went well in the end. It’d be boring if everything went as planned 🤷🏼♀️🤣
