Yesterday we found out that friends, Debbie and David, were going to be in Ullapool today. What are the chances of that?! We had a lazy morning as we waited for them to arrive, bumping into them when we left Tesco, having topped up our supplies.

It was lovely to chat over a drink by the harbour, then a delicious fishy al fresco lunch at the Sea Shack. The forecast rain didn’t materialise and we’ve had sunshine all day!

After lunch we left Debbie and David and headed out of Ullapool to a remote campsite on a pretty beach at Altandu, facing the Summer Isles. The single track road to get here wound through some spectacular mountains that we want to hike up while we’re here.

In the meantime, we’ve had a wander up the hill next to the campsite and along the beach to the pub. It’s been wonderful being able to sit outside and relax, especially after yesterday’s drama with the gas!
