We had a much needed good sleep and a lie in with a cup of tea. Then, once washed and dressed, we wandered down to the supermarket to do a little shopping for food for breakfasts and lunches for the week. Eventually, after a late breakfast, we walked back down to town to catch the free bus to Trins, a small town in a neighbouring valley.

Before heading off on our walk, we had pizzas for lunch in a little cafe. I’m watching what I eat at the moment and was quite pleased with myself for resisting the basket of bread on the table, not eating the whole pizza and only having a small glass of wine!

After lunch it was time for some exercise. The plan was to walk up through the forest to a waterfall and then to skirt the mountain above the village on a winter walking trail before heading back down to Trins.

Although there was some snow it was only very thin because we were on the sunny side of the valley. There were long patches of ice on the path where melt water had frozen, which meant we had to be careful in places. I was carrying my expensive camera loose on a strap and had visions of falling and damaging it!

Although we’re disappointed that there isn’t more snow, it’s lovely to have sunshine and the walk was pretty. Hopefully, there’s more snow in the valley where we’ll be snowshoeing, or more will fall before the weekend. Fingers crossed! Anyway… I enjoyed taking pictures of the waterfall, guarded by two metal dragons, and I got some good shots of the views of the valley and the snowy jagged mountains in the distance.

Once back in town, we found it was half an hour until the next bus back to Steinach. As the bar wasn’t open, rather than waiting we decided to walk back along a lane beside the river. It was very pretty, lit by the setting sun, and the babbling water beside us sounded delightful.

Now we’re relaxing in the apartment, deciding what to have for tea and planning where to walk tomorrow. It looks as though it’s going to be another sunny day.
