A normal holiday day?

Today we’ve had what I think most people would consider a ‘normal’ holiday day, without any long hikes, bike rides or similar. John did choose the walk into Vallon Pont d’Arc that went over a hill instead of along the flat road, but it was worth it. The path wound its way up through old buildings with lovely views over the valley and the town where we were heading. It was very peaceful, if a bit too hot for me.

We picked up some leaflets in the Tourist Office… bus times, paddling shuttles, bike rides and hikes… the stuff we usually do… before we headed to the town centre. Vallon is much prettier than I’d expected, with narrow streets and bustling squares.

There was some sort of biker get together and there were motorbikes everywhere. We watched 2 stunt riders spinning around inside a metal ball before finding a restaurant for lunch.

Lunch was delicious and beautifully presented, and our table was in a lovely spot where we could watch the world go by. Perfect for our first meal out this trip.

Suitably replete, we picked up some supplies at the supermarket then caught the free shuttle bus back to the campsite. The pool was quite quiet as we walked back to Bertie, so we changed into our swimming gear and had a dip to cool off.

Now we’re relaxing in the shade, contemplating what to do tomorrow. The shuttle bus only runs at weekends so, as it’s Sunday, we’ll probably paddle down the river so I can get some practice before we have a bigger trip, then catch the bus back.
