Next stop Canterbury

We arrived at Nick and Ann’s after what was probably our best ever journey down the M6. John skilfully reversed Molly Moho onto the drive, then we joined Nick, Ann and Eddie in the garden for a barbecue. It was lovely to be able to chat and eat outside, although the boys did have to light the chiminea.

This morning, while we were having a cup of tea in bed, Ann texted us to say breakfast would be al fresco. On climbing out of Molly, I was shocked to need sunglasses, rather than a jumper. While Penny and Hettie pecked around the lawn, we ate avocado on toast in the sunshine… what a treat!

After a few hours of driving, including a 30 minute delay on the M2, we finally arrived at the motorhome aire in Canterbury. It’s great and I don’t know why more towns and cities don’t provide facilities like this to encourage visitors. We parked Molly then caught the free park and ride bus into the city where we had a leisurely lunch before exploring.

Canterbury is a beautiful city, especially on a day like today, with bright blue skies and sunshine, which have previously been lacking this summer. We wandered through the medieval streets with their charming, slightly wonky buildings, then strolled through Westgate Gardens, along the River Stour and past colourful flowerbeds.

Later, having been to see Canterbury Cathedral, we walked along the King’s Mile to find an old man’s pub (as I call this type of establishment 😆) with a large selection of beers for John. He definitely enjoyed his pint and I have to admit the pub had character.

Now we’re back in our second home, cooling down and relaxing. The plan is to have an early night tonight then, tomorrow, we have a short drive to Dover to get the ferry to France.

PS These two beautiful little black cats are travelling in the motorhome next to us. 😍

Life goals! 🚐🐈🐈‍⬛☺️
