Following on from a colourful sunset yesterday, it’s been a very cold, grey and damp day today, with lots of rain showers. Having looked at the weather forecast, we decided to stay put on the campsite and catch up with cleaning, tidying, phone calls and emails.

As we’d spent a couple of hours hiking through boggy heather and grass yesterday, and I was wearing a skort, I finally remembered to check myself for ticks. I was horrified to find a tiny nymph tick had hatched a ride on my leg and was sucking my blood. Yuk! š¤¢š± Thankfully, since John had difficulties removing one with tweezers and cotton last year, we’d bought some tick removers. John seemed to enjoy removing the parasite, and I was surprised how easily it came off. Phew! I hastily checked my whole body for more and was very pleased not to find any!

This afternoon, I’ve enjoyed practising drawing and painting, and now I’m crocheting. It’s been lovely to switch off and relax. John’s been checking out maps and routes, and we have a plan for the next few days.

On Wednesday, we travel to Loch Ness where I have a few days on my own while John meets up with friends from university. Much as I enjoy hiking, I’m looking forward to spending more time on my hobbies.

I’m crocheting a baby blanket for my first grandchild. Can’t paint at all … you’re lucky to have a talent … I’ve none!

I’m not a natural at anything, I just enjoy learning new things. I’m following step by step tutorials in books on drawing and painting. I don’t crochet anything complicated… mainly blankets āŗļø

I made a lap blanket using the canal boat pattern from Attic 24 and had half the wool left over to make another in a different stitch. They are lovely bright colours āŗļø
