Hello. My blog started as a diary of the adventures that my hubby and I had on our first couple of camper van road trips to Europe, and I subsequently kept a diary of my training to run a half marathon up Snowdon. Now, whenever we go on holiday, friends and family ask whether I’ll be writing about the trip, and more recently I have used the blog to record other events.
Since I started learning photography, my blog has also become a place to display my images. I am also experimenting using a page within Ramblings to show my fused glass, which I’ve recently begun making. Please see my Facebook page, LC Creative if you’re interested to see more.
I write the blog for myself, because I love looking back and stirring up memories of good times. That said, I am always pleased to hear that other people have enjoyed my ramblings.

Hello Louisa,
Thank you so much for your very interesting Blogs. I am hoping you can answer a question. We are a group of women 50+ off to Switzerland to do the Barentrek. Would you please let us know how dangerous you felt the ascent/ descent from Hohtürli pass was on the via alpina. We have comfortably hiked in the Dolomites and W trek in Patagonia, which were rated “moderate”. We don’t mind steps and steep climbs but would like to know if the steep climbs are combined with narrow paths with steep drops and scree underfoot? We couldnt face all those challenges combined. Thanks for any advice.

Hi Tara
We only did the Kandersteg side of the Hohtürli Pass (as an out and back) so I can only comment on that side. It didn’t feel dangerous or scary to us, just a long and endless ascent, especially as this was one of our first walks at altitude on this trip, and during a heatwave. There was nothing technically difficult and no scary edges. There were beautiful balcony paths, but also some prolonged zigzags, steps in the scree and small bridges over gullies before the pass. The path on the scree was generally firm, not loose. My blog has pictures of these.
Hope that helps. Enjoy your trip
Louisa
