This morning, after a long lie in, we tidied and swept the van, did some washing and went shopping. Then after lunch, we caught the bus to Valnontey and visited the botanical gardens. They were a little disappointing: partly because the flowers were past their best, mainly because we had seen so many more vibrant flowers and butterflies on our hikes. Nevertheless we had a pleasant stroll and it only cost a few euros.
We have another long walk tomorrow with 1600m of ascent, almost twice the ascent of Snowdon, I think. Because its still so hot we’ll need to set off early, so we’ll make our butties and pack our rucksacks tonight. Takeaway pizza for tea… Which reminds me, we found a lovely little brasserie last night and had a beautiful meal: venison carpaccio and veal for me, a plate of meats and wild boar for John. Yum!
