The Lago Maggiore Express offers an unforgettable journey by train and ship, with travel the length of the lake, admiring the islands, castles and villages, and a trip on the scenic Centovalli narrow gauge railway through the wildest and most romantic landscape in the area. Nevertheless, we had a good day out, mostly spent eating pizza, pasta and risotto and drinking wine. We had lunch on the boat, drinks in Locarno (20 euros for 500ml of wine!!!!) and dinner in the mountains. The views weren’t the best in the torrential rain but were good enough to show us how beautiful the area is, and we had a memorable day 🙂
