Someone was hammering at 3.30 in the morning! Ugh! I had slept well up until that point but, afterwards, kept waking up, wondering what time it was. Our train was at 5.20 so at about 4.20, I made a cup of tea and we got dressed and put the bed away.
Once we were on the train we washed and cleaned our teeth and had breakfast… Eddie's cookies! Yummy! I then had a look at the route. We hoped to get over half way to Austria.
We drove (well, John drove!) for about 10 hours, from England, through France, Belgium, Germany and even a bit of The Netherlands. We passed the time by reminiscing, singing along to some of our 80s favourites… Roger Waters, Yes, Genesis, Dire Straits, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Pink Floyd.
The drive went well and we have travelled further than we planned, and only have about 3 and a half hours to go to reach our destination in Austria tomorrow. We even had a couple of breaks for a drink and something to eat, with John insisting on the obligatory Burger King!
It rained most of the way but the sun is now shining. We've stopped by a small lake between Stuttgart and Munich, to 'wild camp' at a place called Zusmarshausen. Now for a beer and something to eat. Then maybe an episode or 2 of Breaking Bad (our binge watch for this trip!) in bed, and an early night.
